WHAT IS THE GOAL OF OUR "HEART FOR THE HOUSE: GREATER THINGS" OFFERING?
First, we hope to raise $1.25 million dollars: (1) for the purchase of Historic First Presbyterian Church at 402 West Monroe; (2) to make significant renovations to our Mesa campus, as we have several areas of our campus in need of repair from roofs to flooring, to air-conditioning units; (3) to upgrade the technology we use in our children’s facilities for security and efficiency; and (4) to update our Worship Center worship technologies on all campuses, including the installation of new video projectors and screens so the greatest message in the history of the world, the Gospel, can be presented in a clear and compelling way to those who attend our worship experiences each weekend.
Second, the goal of our annual “Heart for the House” offering is to unite our Church through faith, prayer, and sacrificial giving towards a common vision. Many churches experience supernatural miracles when believing God for the resources to expand. It’s as if God seizes the ground we offer Him in our finances to move in our hearts, our relationships, our health, and our community.
WHY ARE WE OPENING ANOTHER CAMPUS?
The simple answer is that we believe God has directed us to take this step of faith. From the beginning, we have been committed to a multi-site church model of kingdom expansion, which enables us to take ministry to where people are doing life. This new campus will allow us to reach, restore, and renew areas of the city that we would never otherwise engage. There are other great churches in Downtown Phoenix who are doing great things for God, but they haven’t been given our unique assignment, nor our big, bright, bold, colorful, positive, life-giving, grace-based, generous, people honoring, spirit-filled DNA. We have to go where we are assigned to go, because no one else can do what we have uniquely been assigned to do!
WHAT WILL THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS OFFER?
This beautiful worship facility, with over 65,000 sq. ft., was built in 1927 and modernized over the years. The Spanish Renaissance style architectural is not only historic but also timeless. A lush courtyard with its arched covered walkway greets visitors as an oasis in the heart of Downtown.
Entering into the 3-story auditorium, one immediately notices the beautiful stained glass, the large chandeliers, the hand painted ceiling above the massive open roof beams, the intricate hand-painted wall of the platform/stage and the decorative woodwork throughout. Seating in the auditorium, including the balcony, is over 800 in pews arranged for optimum line of site. This building also offers many other rooms including a chapel with a balcony, offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, a large fellowship room with a fireplace, a full size gymnasium, a dance studio, and an outdoor covered playground. From the Downtown campus we can serve three distinct groups of people: (1) professionals, (2) the arts community, and (3) the under-served.
HOW MUCH DID THE NEW CAMPUS COST?
We have purchased the Historic First Presbyterian Church for $3.75 million and we secured financing through BC Ziegler Investment Bank, (www.ziegler.com) Milwaukee, WI. We have worked with this first rate lending institution on previous occasions and are thankful to have the opportunity to do so again. By taking advantage of better rates and terms, our final payment on all three City of Grace campuses (Scottsdale, Mesa, and Downtown) will be less that our current payment.
WHEN WILL WE MOVE TO INTO THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS?
We plan to have monthly nights of worship and prayer throughout the Fall of 2012. Our weekend worship experience will begin on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
WILL THIS BE A "VIDEO" CAMPUS OR WILL PASTOR TERRY BE SPEAKING "LIVE"?
Each of our campuses will offer both “live” and “video” delivery services. We have discovered that the weekend message is a powerful tool that serves to unite us as a church and call us to a common mission. One message on the weekend, regardless of the speaker, allows us to grow spiritually at the same pace across our services and campuses. In addition, it is highly efficient, in that, it allows the other pastors to stay focused on ministering to the congregation without the pressure of having to prepare weekly sermons.
HOW WILL WE MAINTAIN A SENSE OF COMMUNITY AS OUR CHURCH GROWS LARGER AND SPREADS ITS REACH FURTHER?
We understand this need and we are strengthening our ministries to expand. We encourage you to join a Connect Group and begin serving on one of our many teams supporting our weekend worship experiences and our community transformation initiatives.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE RAISE MORE THAN THE 1.25 MILLION DOLLARS?
We have many building related needs on all three campuses that we will use the resource for. Also, we are continuing to believe for miracles to purchase the small houses between our Mesa campus and University Dr.
WHEN WILL WE RECEIVE THE OFFERING?
Our “Heart for the House” offering will be held on the weekend of October 13/14, 2012. You can bring your cash or credit card offering that weekend or make a 90-day pledge.
HOW CAN I BE A PART?
Begin to pray about making a generous gift above and beyond your weekly tithing and offerings. It will take sacrificial giving, on every level, for us to accomplish this great goal. As someone once said, “It takes equal sacrifice, not equal giving, to accomplish the goal together.” Let’s all do our best and believe God for miracles of provision as we embrace His heart for His house!
